I am a Dublin based artist, recently graduated with a BA Fine Art from DIT.
My work investigates the ways in which we engage with each other, and our surroundings through the window of language. It explores the effects digital environments and text-based communications have on social paradigms and our perceptions of reality.
The work draws influence from several seemingly disparate strands of inquiry, including Eastern spiritual and philosophical thought, Structural and post-structural linguistic theories, folk and pop music, and 1960's psychedelic culture. The manifestation of these ideas form installations comprised of multi-faceted sound and visual media, print, and moving image.
My most recent work is an ongoing series inspired by the Egyptian Book of the Dead, "I have hidden myself amongst you, oh imperishable stars", exploring online realities and virtual immortality. Intended as a guide for surviving the passage through the underworld, the title of the series is derived from the chapter on "not dying a second time", designed to give the deceased the tools to ensure their soul lives on, through the dispersement of elements of the self amongst the cosmos.
I am also the Vice Chair at Broadcast Gallery and a founding member of NODE.
